Sayahan Waterfalls
Ormoc’s hidden natural treasure is the Sayahan Waterfalls located in Maglahug, Barangay Gaas. Its majestic and strong flow of water is surrounded by rocks, which all falls down on a pool perfect for swimming. It is 27 kilometers from the city proper, and involves a hike. But the trip is worth it because there is true beauty once you’ve finished the journey!
Naungan Mangrove Eco-Park
This CNN-featured mangrove eco-park is located in Sitio Quinto Limbo, Barangay Naungan. Aside from being a popular tourist destination, it is where mangroves are rehabilitated and grown more! Local businesses also offer meals of freshly caught seafood at more affordable prices. Aside from the mangroves, you can also see migratory birds in their season.
Lake Janagdan
Lake Janagdan is in the eastern part of Ormoc, involving a two-hour hike to one of the highest mountains in Ormoc. It is a dormant volcano, and is now surrounded by lush plants along the trail. It is a part of the Mount Aminduen ranges, measuring 1120 meters above sea level.
Lake Danao National Park
Lake Danao National Park is located northeast of Ormoc City. It’s a popular destination for both locals and tourists. It has a violin shape covering about 148 hectares on the mountains of Ormoc. Experts say it is volcanic in origin, much like the Taal of Tagaytay. This lake sits 700 meters above sea level, giving visitors an environment much cooler than normal.
Ormoc City Museum
This museum rests in the historic building of the old Ormoc City Hall which was built in 1947. After the LGU’s move to a bigger building, this became the People’s museum – a place for people to learn Ormoc’s history, culture, and art. It houses historic pieces such as paintings, photographs, documents, books, instruments, and collections.
