Let’s Unravel the Hidden Treasures of the Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge Park!

Sohoton Cave is included in the Sohoton Cave and Natural Bridge which stretches to 841 hectares of jungle, waterfalls, rivers, and plenty of limestone caves. Its name Sohoton derives from the Cebuano word ‘so-oton’ which means to squeeze through a small opening. It is located in the municipality of Basey, Samar which is an hour away from Tacloban City.

The cave itself has a regal high cathedral-like dome with a parabolic arch in its entrance. It boasts of unique stalactites and stalagmites that come in various sizes – some even resembling animals or famous places like the Great Wall of China.

The limestone bridge overlooking a river is another majestic aspect in the park. These rock formations have been there since Stone Age and the Iron Age, and proved to be a great sanctuary to the locals during calamities.

The park is perfect to visit all year round but it’s recommended to avoid August to December as it may rain.
